Victoria, BC 1

Well after a long flight, and a few delays in Calgary, we arrived in beautiful Victoria, met by my dear friend Dawn, who couldn't be missed with her welcome sign! Had a lovely dinner with the family, meeting all the friends and soon to be extended family...
Our first full day, started with a tour of downtown Victoria, a stop at some of the oldest buildings in the city. Rogers chocolates was a huge hit :) nougat chocolate!! A horse and buggy ride around the  historic and very impressive legistrative building. A walking tour around the inner harbour, took us until tea time! And what a tea time it was! The Empress Hotel for high tea! I was in my element, a continue flow of delicious hot tea, strawberries and cream, tiny sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and another tray a small delicacies ! What a treat!  So very impressive. We got to see our first Arbutus tree on our way out, the trunk has a beautiful red hue and are native to the west coast.

We wiled the afternoon away taking a stroll on Dallas Road beach, a beach made from pebbles( which made for great pebble skipping later on) and drift wood. It was here that I truly felt like I was on holiday, the smell of salt in the air, the spectaculars scenery and a visit from two little sea otters to boot!

My first out of salon hair cut for the groom to be in a few months, lol  started the evening off before Martin and Dawn took us back the Empress Hotel where we dined on delicious ,Indian  cuisine at The Bengal Lounge. A beautiful, colonial feel restaurant with its rich, dark colours and a tiger skin above the open fireplace to complete the ambiance. We completed the evening by driving past the lit up legistrative buildings, in all its glory.
( I am posting these in smaller segments as I lost my first five days worth of blogging ,NOT impressed..)
