We said our farewells to our new made friends, and got an early start to secret beach. We didn't get to explore the beach at its entirety yesterday, so off we went. I still can't believe how massive the waves are there...the pounding of the surf has left a ringing in my ears this evening! Lol . We didn't see any bohemian people this time...oh no.... We came across the only naked beach on the entire island, the islanders don't even know about it!!! Hahaha. the beach comprises of 3 separate beaches, more like alcoves, which can only be accessed at low tides and you have scramble over rocks to the next beach. My worst fear realized....cliff face surrounding the beach, the only way out over the rocks! ( we made it in and out ..no problem! ;) )
We went as far as the second beach, when you find the perfect beach, why bother looking any further?! Stunning beach, sunny, hardly anyone there, slightly more swimmable than the first beach. Watched a crazy guy trying to surf the waves, he was lucky he didn't break his neck!!! Anyways, swam, lay in the sun...we at no longer white! Yay!!!
Took a drive to the furthest most point on the northern shore, to The Na Pali coast line.stopped at a massive cavern off the side of the road, drove through a stream crossing the road. It had been raining on the mountains, which caused all the run off, making flash floods a possibility!!! And we all know how much I love driving through water, NOT!!! I did it though! :) we got to the end of the road, quite literally, the road just stops. We hiked on the Kalalau trail to the point where we could see both the coast line, but most importantly the Na Pali coast line! Spectacular!!! What a hike, thank goodness I bought those ugly shoes!!! The footing was treacherous, 300 foot cliffs, that drop off to rocky outcrops at the bottom!!! The paths narrow, crumbly and incredible steep at times. This trail is in the top 10 most dangerous trails in States! The trail itself is 11 miles, we didn't hike the entire trail, we got there too late, and rain was on its way in...no ways was I being caught in a flash flood!
The beaches along this stretch are renound for movies filmed there, The Thornbirds, South Pacific, and Lord of the Rings .
Stopped for milkshakes, banana milkshake! Yummy and started our drive to Lihue where we'll be staying for the next two nights. Internet on the island is not the greatest, and have heard other mentioning that they are unable to post photos too... So all in good time !!!
